State Approving Agency for Veterans Education
MISSION STATEMENT
The vision of the Utah State Approving Agency is to ensure that every eligible veteran, reservist/National Guard member, and other eligible persons are afforded the opportunity to pursue their education or vocational program goals to their full potential. The Utah SAA will work to protect the eligible person’s right to a quality education or a quality training program through the accurate, ethical, and expedient administration within each institution/facility that offers education or training programs.
The Utah SAA clients and stakeholders include:
- Active duty personnel and veterans
- National Guard members and reservists
- Dependents of 100% disabled or deceased veterans
- Combat-wounded veterans
- Higher education administrators and certifying officials
- Company owners, programs managers and administrators
- Military education officers
- Federal and Utah State government programs administrators
- Administrators of public and private certificate and licensing programs
- Public and private sector leaders of veteran service organizations
We perform all duties necessary for the inspection, approval and supervision of those programs offered by qualified educational institutions, training establishments, and tests for licensing and certification in accordance with the standards and provisions of Title 38, U.S.C., chapters 30, 32, 35, 36, and Title 10 Chapter 1606 and 1607. This includes providing in-depth technical assistance and outreach liaison with all related organizations, agencies, individuals and activities to help veterans and other eligible persons achieve their educational and vocational goals.
We reach out to eligible persons with the intent of informing these individuals of their benefits through the GI Bill, which in turn will assist veterans in making the most informed decision toward their vocational/educational goals.
Education and / or vocational success for our veterans are the principal advocacies of the Utah State Approving Agency for Veterans Education (SAA). The ability to receive a solid education beyond that of high school ― whether it is a certificate in a vocation, an associate degree, a four-year degree, or a graduate degree ― must be available and easily accessible for veterans who have earned benefits through the GI Bill. We all know that a well-educated citizenry benefits society at large by encouraging civic service in the community. The many who have proudly served and sacrificed for our nation through military service bring to the community and to the workplace a unique set of experiences and skills developed while serving the nation at war.
