Cory oversees and assists with the delivery of services to Utah Veterans by coordinating with other state agencies, federal partners, and private organizations. He manages the Veterans outreach activities for the department and various other programs. Prior to joining UDVMA, Cory worked at the Department of Workforce Services as the Statewide Veterans Employment Representative. He worked with the Chief of Veterans Services on employment and employer initiatives/workforce development and in doing so developed a veterans strategic plan within the Department of Workforce Services.

Cory served in the U.S. Army as a Fire Support Specialist for nearly four years of active duty service. He was fortunate to attend Airborne and Air Assault Schools along with other training during his service.  During his time in the military he traveled outside the U.S. and served in the 2nd Infantry Division-South Korea on the DMZ, and was later assigned to Fort Drum, 10th Mountain Division. He was fortunate to serve as a Non-Commissioned Officer and served in several leadership positions.

Cory is a graduate of Washington State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in Pre-law. He also attended Idaho State University and completed the Idaho P.O.S.T (Peace Officer Standards and Training). He enjoyed his time working in Southeast Idaho in Public Safety/Law Enforcement prior to moving to Washington State to pursue his education. Cory loves serving others and while attending WSU he served at the City of Pullman as a Reserve Firefighter/First Responder.

Cory grew up in Minnesota until the age of 11, and he then moved to Idaho with his family where he graduated High School. He now calls Utah home where he loves to spend his time outdoors with his wife and 5 children. Cory is an Eagle Scout and an avid Minnesota Vikings, Washington State Pac 12 fan, and loves to attend local sporting events. Cory is grateful for the opportunity to work for The Department of Veteran & Military Affairs and in doing so he can continue to help his fellow brothers and sisters that have served this great country.
