The Utah Veterans Memorial Cemetery and Memorial Park is a state operated cemetery that was dedicated on Memorial Day 1990 and is located just north of Camp Williams in Bluffdale, Utah. It offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Wasatch Mountains and pays tribute as an honored burial ground to Veterans, their spouses and dependent children. It also provides an appropriate venue for memorial services, funerals, meditation and other Veteran memorial related events.
The cemetery has added two new options in addition to the previously offered in-ground urn burials. Veterans and families that prefer cremation now have the opportunity to use the newly built granite columbarium for niche interments or the beautifully landscaped Memorial Garden to scatter the cremation ashes of their loved one in a private setting.
How do I make arrangements to be buried at the Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park?
You or your family can choose any funeral home or mortuary to help plan your services. Bring the veteran’s DD-214 or military discharge paperwork to the mortuary. The mortuary will fax the DD-214 to the cemetery. The mortuary will also contact the cemetery to reserve a day and a time for the graveside service and burial. Mortuaries can submit a burial request by clicking on the link below.
There are no fees for veterans burial. However, there is a small fee of $747 for the burial of an eligible veteran’s spouse or dependent child. Contact the cemetery office for specific details.
Our Chapel is the centerpiece of the cemetery and a vaulted ceiling that is nearly five stories high. It accommodates 150 seats and has a spectacular viw of the majestic Wasatch Mountains. The chapel is available for memorial services and other appropriate functions. The fee to reserve the chapel is $150and the vases are $65 and $25 (on ground and columbarium) respectively. Contact the cemetery directly for additional details.
The grounds house a Special Forces Monument, and a World War II submarine Service Monument. The administrative building houses military artifacts and other patriotic materials. A Freedom Shrine contains copies of the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and other significant historical documents that relate to the founding of our great nation.
A Wall of Honor is located in the outside courtyard between the chapel and administration building. The wall lists names of individuals and organizations who have donated $100 or more to the cemetery’s perpetual Wall of Honor project.
