Veterans Voice November 2018

The November 2018 issue of the Utah Veterans Voice newsletter is now online and ready to view. Included in this edition are great articles and information happening here in the State of Utah. In this edition there are many events that are taking place throughout Utah for Veterans Day including the ceremony to commemorate WW I and the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, at the State Capitol Rotunda on Nov 8th, 2018 at 11 am. Updated information on “Utah @ Ease”, a new Veterans and Military Legal Assistance program that was started on July 1st, 2018. In addition to these articles, The Utah Veterans Voice has messages from our major partners: The Department of Veteran Affairs, Hill Air Force Base, and the Utah National Guard, and other great partners in Utah.

We hope you enjoy the November 2018 edition of the newsletter, and during the month of November, we encourage all to get out and celebrate those great men and women who have served and continue to serve this great country in which we live in.

Veterans Voice September 2018

Now that summer is coming to an end, the Department has some spectacular reading material in the newly available September edition of the “Veterans Voice” newsletter.

This newsletter is hot off the press and now online for your enjoyment. This special edition focuses on Education and Training that takes place throughout the great State of Utah for Veterans and their family members. The Director’s message on education and coordinating with education partners in Utah is from Cory Pearson, Director of Veterans Services. There are many great programs and resources available to Veterans and their family members as they attend school at Utah’s System of Higher Education, Utah System of Technical Schools and other institutions.

In the newsletter you will find articles and information from the Department’s State Approving Agency, Veterans Affairs Federal News, V.A. Healthcare (Vital Program), Hill Air Force Base, Veterans Business Spotlight, Utah National Guard, and other great partners and resources.

For those wishing to learn specifics about their veteran benefits, please see page 23 for locations, dates, and times that Veterans Services Officers are available throughout the state to discuss benefits and provide assistance with claims for benefits. Have a fabulous September and enjoy the end of summer as the beautiful fall colors begin to appear.

2018 Veterans Golf Social



Come join us for our Veterans Golf Social May 24th! Make sure to click the link below to register and be able to participate. This event will be held at Hubbard Memorial Golf Course at Hill Air Force Base. Tee off is at 8 a.m. We will have breakfast and lunch catered as well as an awards ceremony.

April 2018 Newsletter

The Employment April Newsletter

This April’s Newsletter contains articles on Veteran employment and is the focus of this months edition. We have exciting articles that have been submitted to us from departments such as Hill Air Force Base, The ACE Program, Thet Department of Workforce services, etc. And with each article, they should help give insight and maybe even pointers to help in your own endeavors. Also, we have our Veterans Business Conference coming in May, all details and where to register are inside. We are happy to have all participants in this issues Newsletter.

Utah is doing very well, in fact, our employment rate continues to be one of the best in the country! April also means the end of the legislative general session. Again this year, veterans and military are held in high regard by the legislature. Inside you will see a list of veteran and military-related bills that were passed this year. You can find the list underneath our Directors message on page 3.

Don’t forget to check out our upcoming events, there are some things coming up in the next few months that we are very excited about. Also, in the back of the newsletter is our Outreach calendar that lists appointment dates and times within your region to be able to go visit one of our outreach specialists regarding benefits. We also have a list of benefits and resources on the page before it for your convenience. I hope you all enjoy this quarters employment issue. 2018 Veterans On Course

Our free Veterans on Course program is open to male and female military personnel of active or veteran status. Participants are not limited to any one event.

Each event consists of an hour of lessons from PGA Professionals, a nine-hole shotgun three- or four-person scramble tournament, and a social gathering with hors-d’oeuvres and a guest speaker.

Utah Veterans Business Conference 2018

The Utah Department of Veterans and Military Affairs would like to invite veterans to attend the 2018 Utah Veteran Business Conference.

Come join the Utah Veteran Owned Business Coalition to learn about what it takes to become a successful Veteran-Owned business, the local and national resources available, and to connect with other entrepreneurs and business owners.

January 2018 Year End Review Newsletter

Just in! The new January issue of the Utah Veterans Voice!

First off, Happy New Year everyone! We wish you a terrific 2018.
