Utah is proud to be home of nearly 140,000 Veterans and 16,700 active duty, National Guard and Reserve members. With support from communities, various government and non-profit organizations are dedicated to assisting, honoring and remembering the their service and sacrifice and that of their families. Below you will find ways you can show your support and give back to Veterans and service members.
The families of our all-volunteer military make unprecedented sacrifices these days to serve our country. Blue Star Families was founded by military spouses in 2009 to empower these families to thrive as they serve. We're committed to strengthening military families by connecting them with their neighbors – individuals and organizations – to create vibrant communities of mutual support. We believe we're all stronger when we take care of one another. The Utah Chapter of Blue Star Families is committed to supporting the military families here in the state.

The USO strengthens America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation. Since 1941, the USO has been the nation’s leading organization to serve the men and women in the U.S. military, and their families, throughout their time in uniform. From the moment they join, through their assignments and deployments, and as they transition back to their communities, the USO is always by their side.

While there are several veterans’ charities that provide services for our veterans nationally and abroad, it is for our Utah heroes that the Utah Veterans Alliance was established. It is our goal to recognize and show our appreciation to Utah’s military community through service and by raising public awareness to the needs of our vets.

Operation Hero is a 501 (c)(3) non profit organization that gives back to Gold Star Families here in the state of Utah and throughout the nation. Donations help Gold Star Families in Utah, and support organizations such as the Utah Survivor Outreach Services, Gary Sinise Foundation, Gold Star Teen Adventures, TAPS - Tragedy Assistance Programs for Survivors, and the American Widow Project. The Major Brent Taylor foundation is a registered 501(c)3 charitable organization that aims to embody the legacy of leadership that Major Brent Taylor left behind. The organization provides scholarships to students that show outstanding service oriented leadership. In addition to funding scholarships, the organization is committed to honoring our nation's Gold Star & Surviving Families, Veterans, and military families by funding monuments across Utah.

Continue Mission (CM) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization serving Veterans and referred Service Members with service-connected physical, mental, and emotional injuries; Veterans and civilians in recovery; and their family/support members. They provide recreational and educational events that support and empower our participants, offer opportunities for healing and camaraderie, and result in improved mental health. They take an active role in suicide prevention and invite civilians and communities to join together to support their mission.

Homeless Veterans Fellowship (HVF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that offers a comprehensive set of services designed to address homelessness among veterans. Located in Ogden, Utah, their services have provided for veterans all over Utah and the intermountain area since 1989.

This plate benefits the Utah Department of Veterans’ and Military Affairs as it strives to protect the rights of and provide for the needs of Utah’s veterans. This plate generates funds to be used in support of these efforts and is available to any person who desires to make the required contribution.
