Tony joined UDVMA in 2016 and serves as State Officer at the Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins. He retired as a Commander in the U.S. Navy in 2014 after 28 years of military service. 

Tony began his military service when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1986. As a marine, he was assigned to the 2nd Light Anti-Aircraft Missile (LAAM) Battalion, Bravo Battery in Yuma, AZ and completed a six month deployment to Okinawa, Japan. After applying and receiving a Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) scholarship, he attended Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon. During his senior year, he applied and was accepted to the Navy’s Nuclear Power Program and in June of 1994 was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy. He attended Naval Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Florida and volunteered to serve aboard submarines. He attended submarine prototype in Charleston, SC and the Basic Officer Submarine School in Groton, CT.

His sea tours include Reactor Controls Assistant and Communications Officer aboard the USS FLORIDA (BLUE), Weapons Officer aboard the USS GEORGIA, Executive Officer aboard the USS HONOLULU, and Executive Officer aboard the USS HENRY M JACKSON (GOLD). His shore duty assignments include Submarine Watch Officer and NATO Submarine Exercise Planner on the staff of Commander, Submarine Group 8 in Naples, Italy, Senior Watch Officer and Long Range Scheduler on the Staff of Commander, Submarine Forces Pacific in Honolulu, HI, Executive Assistant for Nuclear Deterrence Policy on the staff of the Secretary of Defense in Washington DC, and Deputy Commander for Readiness of Submarine Squadron 19 in Bangor, WA.
